Technical and policy concerns
No, it’s not. Starting July 1, 2024, WhatsApp stopped registering business phone numbers for use with the on-premises API. Only registration with the Cloud API is accepted.

You can connect a phone number to your business account by following these steps:
- Open the Business Manager
- Click on All Tools > Engage customers > WhatsApp Manager
- Choose the WhatsApp Business account you want to connect the number to
- Go to the left menu and click on Phone numbers
- Click on Add phone number

To create a WhatsApp display name, go to the settings of your WhatsApp Business account, then the Business Profile section. Edit the Display Name field. Once updated, the new name will need to be reviewed and approved by WhatsApp before it shows to your customers.

To change your WhatsApp business display name, do the following:
- Go to Business Manager and choose your business
- Click on the three horizontal lines icon
- Go to WhatsApp Manager
- Choose your business account
- Go to the left menu and choose Phone numbers
- Go the Name column and click on Edit display name
Set up two-step verification by doing the following:
- Open your settings
- Click on Account > Two-step verification > Turn on or Set up PIN.
- Enter a pin of six digits
- Add an email address for resetting and safeguarding
- Click on Next > Save

To apply for Meta Verified on your WhatsApp Business account, follow these steps:
- From the chatlist, go to Tools > Meta Verified > Continue
- Choose a subscription package
- Choose the account you want to verify and click Continue

Messaging and automation
To set up automated messages on WhatsApp, do the following:
- Launch the WhatsApp Business app
- Go to ⋮ > Business Tools > Away/Greeting Message
- Click on Send away message/Send greeting message
- Tap Away message/Greeting message and edit the message
- Click Ok
To set up quick reply on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
- Go to ⋮ > Business Tools > Quick Replies
- Click Add > Message to create the message
- Click Shortcut and set a keyboard shortcut for your quick reply
- Click Save
- Tap the 3 dots in the upper corner of your screen
- Tap more options
- Tap Business tools and then tap Greeting message.
- Turn on Send greeting message.
- Tap Greeting message to edit your greeting message, then tap OK.
- Tap Recipients and select one of the following options:
- Everyone: send to everyone who messages you.
- Everyone not in address book: send to customers who aren’t in your address book.
- Everyone except…: send to all customers except those you select.
- Only send to…: send only to select customers.
- Tap Save.
To use quick reply on WhatsApp:
- Open a chat
- Click Message, then type “/”
- Choose the quick reply you want
- Click Send

QR codes and links
To create short WhatsApp links, do the following:
- Open Business Tools through the menu
- Go to Short Link
- Click on Short Link to generate a new link
- Use an online QR code generator
- Enter your WhatsApp number
- Enter a pre-filled message that the customer can send to you (optional)
- Generate the QR code
- Open the WhatsApp Business app
- Open Business Tools through the menu
- Go to Short Link
- Click View QR Code
- Go to the menu and click Reset link > Reset
- Go to Business Tools through the menu
- Open Short Link and choose View QR Code.
- From there, you can either share the QR code directly or select Share Link.
- Pick a contact or an app to send your QR code or link.
To allow people to join your WhatsApp group via a QR code, do the following:
- Open the group chat and click on the group name.
- Select Invite via link.
- Click QR code.
- If sending via WhatsApp, pick contacts or search for them, then tap Send.
- Launch the WhatsApp Business app on your main phone.
- For Android, tap More Options > Linked Devices > Link a Device > Link with Phone Number Instead.
- For iPhone, go to Settings > Linked Devices > Link Device > Link with Phone Number Instead.
- Verify your identity if prompted
- Enter the code displayed on your companion device into your main phone.
- Open the WhatsApp Business app on your main phone.
- Go to Linked Devices > Link a Device through the menu
- Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on the device you want to link.
Integration and linking accounts
To link WhatsApp Business with Facebook and Instagram, follow these steps:
- Go to Business Tools > Facebook & Instagram through the menu
- Choose Facebook or Instagram, depending on the platform you want to link
- Log in to your Facebook or Instagram account
- Follow the prompts (they differ according to the platform you chose)
- Open the WhatsApp Business app
- Go to Business Tools > Facebook & Instagram through the menu
- Choose Instagram and log in to your account
- If you have a Professional Account on Instagram, continue to the next step. If you don’t have a Professional Account, you’ll need to update your account type.
- Verify your account information and click Add > Back to WhatsApp.
Yes, you can use WhatsApp Business on the web through WhatsApp Web. Here’s how:
- Open web.whatsapp.com on your web browser
- Open the WhatsApp Business app on your phone
- Go to Linked Devices through the menu
- Scan the QR code shown on the web page with your phone
- Once scanned, your WhatsApp Business chats will be available on the web.
Account bans and quality management
While WhatsApp doesn’t tell you if someone blocked you, there are indicators that they did, like the following:
- No message read confirmation (two blue ticks)
- No account status
- No updated profile pictures
To improve your WhatsApp quality rating, only contact customers who have opted-in, make the messages relevant and within context, and give customers an opt-out option.
